ARTIST STATEMENT

One of the main themes of my work is the city and urbanism. Through a variety of urban textures, I try to convey the feeling of emptiness and, at the same time, feeling of peculiar comfort that the big city invokes . I aestheticize the “ordinary” urban space and try to convey the harmony of its roughness and blackness. I focus on how urban space shapes the internal state and the inner world of a person.

I am also interested in the theme of a person’s apartment, and the line between home and the space of the street. I try to convey the ephemeral nature of this line, beyond which the “home” begins, and to show the unity of the apartment and the space outside it.

I am interested in dreams and intuitive strange and sometimes terrifying subconscious images, dream-like changes in the perception of space.

I work in the genre of graphics and oil painting.
